Blessed...

We are getting more snow this evening. My family sat on the couch and just watched the snow fall. It was such a calming evening. You couldn't help but smile as the world settled into place and the true meaning of the Christmas season sunk in. The white world, the christmas music, the tree all light up, my family around me...

We are truly blessed. Today when I needed help, my sister-in-law tromped through the slush and snow across town with her girls and saved the day. I was having an exceptionally difficult time with Gavin and Kyla was bouncing off the walls. Beth has such a calming presence, life just settled back to normal soon after she got here. Her hubby came over later and we had dinner and then turned down all the lights and turned up the christmas music and just enjoyed being together. Gavin and Bryan have this incredible bond, it makes me so thankful every time I get a glimpse of it. After I cleaned up the dinner table I looked out into the living room and there was Gavin, wrapped in a blanket on Uncle Bryan's lap listening to Uncle Bryan sing carols to him. I'm not sure if they saw me, but my heart was touched. I will keep that picture in my head for all time. Gavin had his hand on Bryan's face and they were both just happy being together. I'm teary eyed just thinking about it. After Gavin went to bed, the girls came and cuddled on the couch with Beth and I. Our babies, growing up...

We just got the news that our good friends are having their fourth child. I can just imagine the joy that they are feeling. I can't wait to share the experience with them as they bring another baby into the world. We got another exciting bit a news just yesterday from the kid's Godfather. He and his wife are expecting their first child and they just found out it's a boy! I think back to all the excitement when we were expecting Kyla and pray that they enjoy every aspect of this baby's life. All this new life as we celebrate the birth of Christ. How appropriate and how very amazing life is.

I challenge you to sit still and quiet and think of all that you have been blessed with. Today I did just that and am amazed by the abundance that fills my life.

I told my mom about Bryan and Gavin and said that Bryan sang to Gavin until you and I were both crying...then I had to revise myself. I made it sound awful!
This morning, the snow is falling off the trees in our very own wonderland. I wish I had your camera...and you.
