Fun in the Sun - July 3

What a fun day we had today! We started our adventures in McMinnville at the brown bag concert and a picnic lunch. The kids loved the music and Gavin was dancing away! We headed to the farmers market and bought some yummy organic carrots and some peas in the pod for Jolina. The kids loved watching all the people and I enjoyed getting out of the house:)


Since we were pretty hot from walking through downtown, we headed over to Jolina's house to play in the pool. Kyla can touch the bottom this year so she's a lot more comfortable. Eva swam all by herself yesterday! It's been so fun watching her grow up alongside Kyla! Gavin has started saying her name, "Evie". It's just cute!

Gavin was lounging about as he was the "King of the Pool" and Kyla and Eva wore each other out.

Later that evening after the kids had gone to bed, we heard a loud thump from upstairs. Kyla had fallen asleep in our bed as a special treat and had then rolled right out of it. Unfortunately, Chad's sleep machine happened to be right were she fell and she cut her eye lid on it! Chad brought her downstairs and she had blood dripping out of both sides of her eye. Once we got it all cleaned up, it didn't look to bad. She's a little bruised up now, but all in all, she has survived once again:)

Both of the kids survived having the flu last week and are back to enjoying our summer. We've been swimming at our friend's house, played in the sprinkler and laid in front of the window air conditioner:) Jolina dropped off some beautiful cupcakes in celebration of her daughter's b-day this week. A couple of them were on a stick! Gavin sure loved that! We sang Happy Birthday to miss Zoey and the kids dug in.

The kids took advantage of Edwaurdo cleaning the dining room and built a "reading fort". Only reading was declared legal by "queen" Kyla. Gavin went along with that for a while and then decided it would be much more fun to climb to the top and then fall headfirst in on Kyla. Needless to say, the fort was quickly dismantled in the ongoing effort to keep Gavin OUT of the emergency room.


Grandma Lynne gave kyla a Hooked on Phonics set this past winter. Kyla has decided that it's time to get on with it and learn to read. She's been working really hard and enjoys the cds and computer games that came with the program. Here she is studying her flash cards. I just couldn't resist sharing his beautiful blue eyes!

To the Beach...

In the beginning of June, Chad ended his previous job and started his new and much more exciting job. During the 5 day gap in between the two, we took a quick trip to the beach for a night. We went to the Newport Aquarium for the day and then to Gleneden Beach.


Kyla's favorite thing was "Every part!" and Gavin didn't want to leave the fish and shark tunnels.

The rain stopped for a bit at the end of our visit so the kiddos got to play outside for a bit.


The weather was nasty but the pool was warm and we had a fire place in our room:)

To the farm...

We went to my parent's house on Father's Day near Molalla and the kids got to ride on the new riding lawnmower. It was pretty exciting. Kyla enjoys being in control at the wheel and Gavin sure loves the noise. I think this may become a mandatory activity when we visit them:)

A day at the Park

Last weekend we were invited to the park for a BBQ dinner. We met the Lee family there and had a great time. The girls all rode their bikes and Gavin pushed himself backwards on the tricycle. Kyla was gifted with a "new" bike from her cousins and though it was bigger and faster then her old one, she did great! You throw together some great friends, good food, sunshine and lots of laughs, and you've got yourself one great evening!
